What is the Strathcona County Crime Watch Association?
The Crime Watch Association is an open interactive relationship between the citizens and the Strathcona County RCMP committed to improving the security and quality of living in our community.
Contrary to popular belief, our organization is not just for rural residents, in fact we have a very large group of members from our urban area. Collectively we are working together to be an extra set of eyes and ears for the police in Sherwood Park and all of Strathcona County.
Our objective is to have as many people as possible aware of criminal or suspicious activity around them. The more people watching over our community makes it less likely for criminal activities to occur. Crime Watch members are only asked to be that extra set of eyes and ears for police, they do not go out on patrols and are asked to report any criminal or suspicious activities occurring in their neighbourhoods to police.
To keep our members informed we use an electronic fan out system that informs Crime Watch members of incidents occurring in their area. These fan outs will be sent by the Strathcona County RCMP to our members and can be received on your home computer, work computer or even your phone within mere seconds.
You need to be a member of Crime Watch to receive our fan-outs. If you are interested in joining please have a look at our "Join Crime Watch" link at the top of this page.
