Strathcona County RCMP Crime Reduction Unit execute search warrant

Strathcona County, Alta. –  On Nov.10, 2024, Strathcona County RCMP Crime Reduction Unit entered into an investigation in relation to the Excise Act.

On November 14, 2024, Strathcona County RCMP Crime Reduction Unit with the assistance of members of Strathcona County RCMP General Duty, the Property Crime Unit, Strathcona County Enforcement Services and the RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant on a residence in Strathcona County.

Police seized several boxes of unstamped tobacco, counterfeit Canadian currency, Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, weapons and a flat deck tow truck determined to be stolen out of Morinville, Alta. 

James Wilgus (48), a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a controlled substance - Methamphetamine
  • Possession of unstamped tobacco

Wilgus was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 4, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park.
