Strathcona County RCMP investigate arson in new residential development – update #1
Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) continues to investigate the arson of two homes under construction in the residential subdivision of Summerwood.
On July 23, 2022, at 3:49 a.m., Strathcona Fire and RCMP responded to Sedum Way in Sherwood Park, Alta. Two homes under construction were reported on fire and with the assistance of Strathcona Fire Services, the fire was deemed suspicious.
The RCMP investigation identified two persons of interest at 2:30 a.m., arriving in a silver or grey four-door sedan and walking towards the homes under construction. At 3:19 a.m., the same individuals are seen walking back to their vehicle and leaving the area. At 3:37 a.m.Minutes later, flames are seen coming from the homes. RCMP are seeking any information in identifying these individuals and vehicle of interest.
Suspect #1:
- Male, late teens/early 20’s
- Slim build
- Wearing dark t-shirt and shorts
Suspect #2:
- Male, late teens/early 20’s
- Wearing a green jacket or sweater, slightly taller than the first suspect;
Suspect vehicle:
- Silver or grey four-door sedan last seen leaving south on Sandstone Blvd

Sherwood Park, Alta. – On July 23, 2022 at approximately 4 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP along with Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire located in the residential subdivision of Summerwood.
Upon arrival, a single detached home was observed completely burned to its foundation and a neighbouring home was engulfed in flames suffering extensive damage. Both homes are new builds and were unoccupied at the time of this event.
The investigation has determined the fire was intentionally set as an unknown accelerant was located on the scene by investigators. Strathcona County General Investigation Services continue to investigate.
