Strathcona County RCMP investigate garbage arson fires

 

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are currently investigating several garbage fires that are believed to be arson.

 

On June 30, 2022, between 12:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services members responded to two dumpster fires located on the east side of Salisbury Composite High School located on Festival Way in Sherwood Park, Alta. There was no damage to the school and no one was injured.

 

On July 4, 2022 at 5:50 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services members responded to a commercial strip mall complex located at 985 Fir Street in Sherwood Park, Alta. Upon arrival RCMP and fire responders located two garbage bins on fire in front of Canada Safeway, two garbage bins on fire in front of London Drugs, and two garbage bins and two planters on fire in front of Tim Hortons. It is believed that these fires were intentionally set. There was no damage to any of the businesses and no injuries were reported.
