Strathcona County RCMP investigates threat at local school - update

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP have successfully identified a suspect responsible for the threatening message spray-painted at Heritage Hills Elementary School. The individual responsible has been identified as a 22-year-old male resident of Sherwood Park.

We extend our gratitude to the public for their invaluable assistance in helping us identify the suspect behind the threatening message.

Heritage Hills Elementary School’s administration has been collaborating closely with law enforcement, and we can confirm that there was never a credible risk to students or staff.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Strathcona County RCMP investigates threat at local school

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are currently investigating a threatening incident at Heritage Hills Elementary School in Sherwood Park, Alta.

On Sept. 2, 2024, at approximately 5:28 a.m., a male suspect spray-painted a threatening message on the school’s sidewalk. Video footage has been obtained showing a male wearing a balaclava and carrying a can of spray paint. The suspect appears to have a limp or injury to his leg.

Police are collaborating closely with the school administration and do not believe the safety of the school and staff is compromised. 

RCMP are taking the threat seriously and are actively working to identify the person responsible. Public safety is our priority. We encourage the public to come forward if there are concerns for any public safety issues.
